Respiratory Influenza viral load as a marker of poor prognosis in patients with severe symptoms

چکیده

The link between influenza virus (IV) viral load (VL) in respiratory samples and disease severity is not clearly established. This study was designed to assess IV-VL from flu patients admitted intensive care unit (ICU). Patients ICU for IV infection, as documented by RT-PCR, with failure were included the during 5 flu-seasons (2014–2018). Routine management parameters recorded. Real-time amplification Ct-values cell GAPDH gene measured each sample collected at admission. Among 105 patients, 59 (56.1%) presented an acute distress syndrome (ARDS). overall mortality 21%. IV-load assessed virus-over-cell ratio (expressed log10) ranged 20 40 −5.2–3.7, respectively, did differ according type of IV-A or -B type. Cell richness higher ARDS compared non-ARDS (p = 0.0003) but no difference noted Ct-values. In ARDS-patients, 0.020) virus-per-cell 0.038) significantly who eventually died those survived. These 2 remain independently associated odd-ratio 1.21 2.19, respectively < 0.05). While does seem predict evolution flu-patients, normalized measurement could be useful identify risk mortality.

Plasma Epstein-Barr viral load measurement as a diagnostic marker of lymphoma in HIV-infected patients.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES To assess the use of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) viral load as a marker for lymphoma diagnosis in HIV-infected patients. We also aimed to identify the relationship between EBV viral load in plasma and the presence of EBV in lymphoma cells. PATIENTS AND METHODS Retrospective observational study of two HIV-infected populations: one of patients diagnosed with lymphoma ...

QT-Dispersion as a potential marker in prognosis of acute myocardial infarction

Introduction: QT dispersion in a 12 lead ECG represents the heterogeneity of ventricular repolarization. The prolongation of QT-interval dispersion increases the risk of coronary heart disease, ventricular arrhythmia, and sudden cardiac death in patients with myocardial infarction. We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of QT-dispersion in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Meth...

High human papillomavirus oncogene mRNA expression and not viral DNA load is associated with poor prognosis in cervical cancer patients.

PURPOSE Cervical cancer is now known to be caused by infection with an oncogenic type of the human papillomavirus (HPV). However, little is known about the continued role of HPV once cancer has been established. Here, we describe the quantitative relation between HPV DNA copy number and mRNA expression of the viral oncogenes (E6 and E7) and the prognostic value of both measures in cervical canc...
